Anybody been to the Squamish recently? Any improvement in water visibility or conditions?
-
Absolutely no vis in it at all. Heavy brown color.

Thursday morning at Ashlu bridge.

Oh wow. That tells me all I need to know - thanks :)

The river is not high now and at the level where clearer water is to be expected. The mud must be a consequence of the big fire in the Elaho last summer in which case the river is going to be muddy at the slightest rain for quite some time.
-
Darn, was hoping to go up next weekend.
-
Had great luck a couple weeks ago and nada yesterday.
Holy cow the river has changed as well from that last flood. There are many new logjams with massive trees all over them, must have been quite the sight. Saw the Ashlu Bar as well and seems it's not longer accessible now do to a new channel cutting it off also with large logs deposited all over it.
I think the mud is both related to lack of the fire as well as severe lack of snowpack which means the glaciers drain through all the till that's normally covered by snow. Ashlu has been running cloudy all year as well and normally during a dry September it is quite clear. Need a nice cold snap to clear things up.

Bump

Just won't clear up. Had about a foot on Sunday and now it will deteriorate again with the rain. There's good visibility in the tribs (Mamquam was quite clear) but will colour up again if the forecast stays true and dumps again as we approach the weekend.

I fished the lower Squamish today and there was about 4ft of visibility. Landed a wild coho and lost another 4 fish. I'll be there again tomorrow before the rain ruins it.
-
Was there today too. Decent visibility and epic scenery. Not the big numbers of fish like previous years but that's ok.... Just a couple guys on the fly over a couple miles of river. Awesome!
-
still the same color in the lower as of yeterday evening.

Anyone know what the cheakamus looks like after all the rain last night? Water level went up about 20cm, is that enough to blow the river?
-
I would guess that it would be fishable, but didn't make it up there today/yesterday. Between the chek and the Mamquam I'm sure you'll find some water, it's cooled off significantly and the rain isn't bumping levels as severely.
