Title: WTB: Centerpin Reel
Post by: Ssypark on October 05, 2015, 06:38:37 PM: Looking to buy a centerpin reel. Also wondering if I should just use my 10'7 8wt switch rod to reduce the amount of gear I have to carry out on the water but have been hearing mixed reviews about that setup. Some say it's fine and others are saying the mono of the CP will ruin the guides of my rod. Looking to spend around 2-300$ depending on the brand or a bit less if I have to buy a whole new rod. Any input on the Switch setup and offers would be great. Tight lines!

Post by: tuna on October 05, 2015, 08:18:24 PM: it will work fine i've been using a sage z axis 8110 a 11 ft 8wt switch rod and just swaping between fly and drift awsome the reel you realy want to look at is the john millner river wraith it is under 4 inches of diameter and should feel like a fly reel on there go for it and tite lines

I got it as a warranty exchange but it took so long so I ended up buying another rod in the meantime. It's a great rod for coho and steelhead, nice and light and rated 8-15 lb (Trophy 5100C). Retails for $100 yours for $70 obo.
