Title: Fraiser Springer Report July 11th
Post by: SP123 on July 11, 2004, 09:46:06 PM
Fished Grassy gong show this morning. Launched at island 22 at 6:03 and roared down to grassy to get the hot spot (lower end). To my suprise there were already 10 boats anchored. Ended up postioning boat around the middle of the bar. Started casting and hooked first spring within the first hour. Went for the chase, but broke it off at the boat (trying to hand line it in as my leader was very long). Ran back up started casting again and hooked my second spring after about a another hour. Went for the chase again, but the hook poped out on the fishes third huge jump. Dam barbless hooks, play. Ran back up started to cast again. 1/2 an hour later my dad finally hooks up. This time we boat the fish(18 puonds)= Bonk.  Up we run again and start to cast hoping to get my 1 spring. 2 hours later I hook up for the third time. This was a hot fish. She must have jumped 8 times before she slid into the net. Finally I boat a frigging fish (20 pounds)= Bonk. Ran back up and had some lunch. Started to cast again hoping to catch a jack. Hooked up for the forth time but lost it after a couple of headshakes. Decided to put away the rod after that as I was starting to put on a serious fishing clinic. What a great day to end my summer springer fishing. Off to the skeena next week for the big puppies. Hope every one has a great spring and sockeye season. Tight lines.

General Fishing Report:
Other than my boat, I saw about 15 or so caught below me and about 6 caught above me. Fishing seemed rather slow for the amount of people there were. Seemed like many got skunked. Water clarity is really getting nice for all you plunkers out there. There was probally around a foot of vis.

Please do not refer to fish caught with the TOW method as being caught, they are hooked. As far as a fishing clinic ,not possible when snagging.
SP 123,how is the ole "out of the box",backtrolling working for you  ;D.
Please get your fish ,then go home or go angling ,it will make the river a more bearable place to be.
Catch and release TOWing is very dangerous to long run salmon stocks.

We all have our thoughts on how we like to fish and how we think it should be done, but I think we should welcome reports for all types of legal fishing on this website.

Thanks for the report SP123!

The Other Way......bottom bouncing...flossing....single strand netting....etc.

.....and then there is TOOW   : The Other Other Way (barfishing, fly fishing, spinner fishing etc)

and last but not least:  the OTTO way  (polefishing)

 ;D

LOL Gmanfxp ,that "single strand netting" comment was playing hillarious.
The flossing antics on the Fraser are starting to become a joke ,these playing leaders are getting so long the guys can't even land there fish.Watched a guy at the bottom end of Grassy bar lose 4 fish in a row because his leader was 25 ft long and his little boat was only 14ft  :o.Why is everyone fishing from their boats at grassy? So they can float down to kill their dorsal caught fish.Oh but flossing is legal ,so it's a-okay.Same guys are chasing natives who are netting, hypocritical don't ya think.
