Reading about our neighbours to the South and how they starting to have increasing numbers of sockeye die in the Columbia and Deschutes because of high water temperatures, what hope is there for the Fraser? It is already well above 19 degrees and will probably be climbing over the next 4 weeks or so until the big runs of salmon arrive? Any thing we can do? Release more water from some of the dams? Or is this season going to mean the end of runs in 2019, 2023, 2027 and hopefully rebounds around then?

The sky is not falling friends. The run is projected to be relatively good for this year of the cycle. Even if 50% or more of the fish die en-route, if there is no commercial and FN harvest there is good chance enough fish will spawn successfully to mean there is a decent return in 2019.

Well the southern Okanagan rivers and streams are shut down due to warm temps, wonder how far this is gonna go.

Thankfully the weather has normalized a bit. It probably won't bring down the temp, but it will stop it from getting higher.
