Title: skunked on Rice Lake
Post by: FlyNut on July 07, 2004, 10:15:50 PM
Went to Rice Lake tonight for about 3 hours.  Not a single bite.  Only one guy had a fish, but could not land it.

Very very slow.  Wonder if the lake is emptying out?

Trolling? Fly-casting? Bait? What were you using? Too bad the fishing was slow.

Tonight, I was fly casting, deep. Using greenish nymphs (Caddis), and some gray ones too.  Tried a number of things, nothing working. :(

Yap, I was back to my fly fishing ways tonight. Maybe I should've used the long pole.  Oh well, live and learn ;)

thats ok..... i get skunked so many times...then that one special time you bag a fish, makes it all worthwhile.

FLyNut.....the first time you catch a trout on that pole, don't point the pole straight up so that the tip is bent over double (stresses the joints and graphite). keep the pole at a 45-65 degree angle and just net the fish with net or have someone net it for you.

Yeah, don't point it straight up. You'll get it caught up in the trees like me and you WILL lose your fish!  :'(  :'(
