Title: LF - spinning rod for my son

Something along the line of Shimano clarus 9'6 range.  I haven't actually used this type of spinning rod so I don't know how it feels between the 6-10lb model and 8-17lb model.  Any input will be appreciated.

He fish for pink, coho, and once a while, a chum or two.
