I was watching the Canucks game earlier tonight and the 649 commercial came on, here's a link to the commercial:

I couldn't help but immediately notice that the fisherman reeling his line in backwards. I've never seen this before, the line is supposed to hang on the underside of the reel (opposite to the rod). Am I the only one who's never seen this before? Did 649 really make a blunder?
PS I don't think it's realistic for 5 guys to be huddled that close together while fly fishing... Something's bad is bound to happen! Not to mention the fish would be spooked 8)

Give me a million and I will reel upside down and with my toes! ;D

Get a chuckle every time I see that, they should have filmed it during the sockeye opening on the Fraser. ::)

If you look at the line guides and rod handles as well you will notice they are not even using fly rods :-\....

Hahaha I am so glad im not the only one who noticed that.
Told my wife and she looked at me like I was crazy lol
Thank god for pvrs, had to rewind and show her

--I expect it was intended as a joke. ie the guys with money being able to try something they always wanted to but for the first time.
--Although one famous fisher Mr. Bird always used to reel backwards..

Maybe that's his reel's drag system.

It bothered me the first time I saw it, especially the line coming off the top of the reel. :o

Doesn't matter what he used or how he reeled - he won the lottery and hooked a fish. I didn't do either yesterday. :'(
There are bigger issues to worry about like Zack Kassian not in the line up today or under-inflated footballs.

Who cares what a bunch of actors do on TV. It's not like it's real anyway unless you believe what you see on the boob tube is real. The real question is are there any guess what river that scene was shot on? Curious as to where people think this was shoot. Remote spot or local?

Looks like Vancouver River.
