A month ago, after planning it for a long time, I invited a couple of talented boys from the UK over to experience the fishing we have over here. Carl and Alex, brothers, age 19 and 16, are avid anglers and also aspiring videographers. Their goal of the trip was to catch/see one salmon and one sturgeon. We kind of accomplished that, and a bit more. ;D Check out this 30 minute video they just put together, which summarizes their 10-day ultimate BC fishing adventure! :)

I'll say that's an ultimate BC adventure. Great video and nice of you to invite them Rod, looks like they had the trip of a lifetime.

A good 30 minutes video

Awsome! Excellent to see Rodney getting young fishman into the sport in an ethical way! Nothing more rewarding... Well done guys!
-
Very good production Rod. What camera/lens did you use for the footage?
-
Impressive work by two young guys, and it demonstrates our great natural resources.
Worth protecting and giving back to.
Cool
-
Very nice footage! Thanks for sharing.
-
Awesome work from everyone.
-
Thanks all. While I shot a good portion of the footage, the entire video was put together by these two guys.

The cameras used were Canon DSLRs, there were a few, 550D, 600D, 650D. GoPro Hero3+. The lenses for the DSLRs were mostly the 18-135mm.

Amazing video. Definitely an ultimate BC fishing experience. :)
-
This is pretty awesome, way better than anything we get on TV over here these days.
-
Great work Rod ;). This video has huge potential to make money for several local business's and I hope you will be compensated accordingly!
-
phenomenal sturgeon...well made video. I enjoyed every minute of it. great job!
-
Wow , helluva video , almost felt like you were playing that fish with them at the end . They definitely won the fishing lotto with that trip . Best line ..."10/0 hook, Blimey" . Good on ya Rod , think you made a few lifelong mates there .
-
So those are the two guys you were "guiding" ?

It's called hosting, if I were guiding there would be no fish in that video! ;D
-
Great video.....but I think you've spoiled them for any other fishing.... ;)
-
An awesome way to introduce our world class fisheries to the UK! Great video too.
-
Now you've done it. The Vedder will be full of British tourists next year as if the Vedder isn't crowded enough already. :D

That's what I said to them afterward, how are they going to fish back home now, they're ruined for life. ;D

There's an easy solution for that… I just need to go over there to do a collaboration on carp fishing with them, then we'll drive hordes of BC anglers over there during the fall salmon season. Problem solved. ;D

Watched this.Certainly put a smile on my face.Made me proud of the kind of fishing we have right in our backyards.Bravo to all concerned.

$$$. Or just come back here with the spey rod. It's a lot cheaper to fish here for a couple of weeks than fish for a couple of days on the other side of the Atlantic.

I know...on top of the cost of the license there is a beat license for rivers based on timing etc...

That wasn't Lang's biggest, there have been a few bigger ones just this year alone. Here's a 10'7" from July.

Thanks Dave. This took months of planning and I did most of the leg work to get all the other partners on board while Carl and Alex delivered the finishing product. I see this as a very positive contribution to the fishing community in Chilliwack. Not only we will be bringing more visiting anglers to experience what this area has to offer, we are making sure they are doing so in a proper manner. A video like this is entertaining but educational at the same time. People who come here from overseas and experience the fishing will become ambassadors of our fisheries in the long run. Hopefully it will fix some of our local issues in the years to come.

Well done Rodney, must be lots work involved.

Awesome job Rod! And it is true that we do take for granted the amazing fishing and angling opportunities we have in BC.

My family moved to Canada from the UK when I was 12 years old. We moved to Parksville on Vancouver Island. In a very short time mid Island rivers became my second home. In fact, within a week of moving here, I was taken steelhead fishing on the Englishman River. Since then (now at 50 years old), fishing is a huge part of my life.
The opportunity that Carl & Alex experienced here, will stay with them for their lifetime. Kudos to you Rod for not only showing them our rich resource; but, showing them how to properly fish that resource and the etiquette involved.
-
Thanks all. :)
A few more videos to come from these trips. Here's a short one from that same sturgeon trip, showing why I usually try not to touch the rods... ;D :-\

Fantastic Rodney, your a great Ambassador to the sport, BC and Canada. I often think about my fantasy fishing trip, where and what I'd be fishing for but watching those videos reminds me our local fishing is pretty awesome.
Great work on all the other videos you put out this year as well.
