Title: Help/Advice needed ASAP
Post by: Hoop71 on November 14, 2014, 08:57:31 AM
I am currently sitting in my car in Squamish and I have an issue with both my Shimano reels. I have a Calcutta 200D baitcaster & Symetre spinning reel. I have not used either for about 3 weeks but am here trying to use and BOTH HAVE NO DRAG. I have no idea why. Both worked fine last time I used them?

The baitcaster is only 2 months old and the spinning is about a year. The guide on the baitcaster moves horizontally like it should but no line is brought in?

Any help/info greatly appreciated. Is this something I can fix here or did I just waste a trip to Squamish?
Cheers,
Dan

you're spool are frozen, nothing you can do but wait for it to be unfrozen..i guess you did'nt put a back up line in your spool specially if your using braided line..i put on mine a strip of thin rubber with adhesive like the skin band aid w/out the gauze,so the line will not slip  on the spool when it's frozen.. keep warm

pee on them, or put them under a heat vent, depending on where you are.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

It turns out they were both frozen as mentioned. Unfortunately I did not discover that until I was back in Vancouver >:(

Oh well, it was a beautiful day for a drive up to Squamish.

If your using braid always put some mono backing on first.
