Guys, whats the difference between the superba and a reg silex?
I have a reg silex I bought in the 70s, to cast I need to disengage the the pawl by throwing the leaver.
Someone told me some of the silexs one needs to hold the leaver up, however mine stays in the position I put it, is this the difference between the reg silex and the supurba?

Hardy Silex has 3 position clickers. Superba has 2 position clickers and with a felt drag system...

Sorry Tyee but still not clear on this………does the 2 position mean you need to hold it up (spring loaded) to free spool?

Yes

push the clicker level down and leave it there the spool is on free spool. Pull it up and hold, it's on free spool but won't stay in that position. I found that flicking the lever up & holding it is the best way to cast.

the lever does not stay in the release position. Lots of guys, myself included use an elastic band to hold the clicker in place so it is on a free spool "setting". --The rubber band is anchored around the cork.

Awesome thx for the info

they're made to have the clicker on other than for casting. That's one reason why they last for decades. Mine is 40 years old.

Ok so now that you cleared that one up for me :)
Sorry for the questions but I dont have a venue to do a touchy feely thing and figure it out on my own
Is there any difference in how the pawl leaver works with the Major and Super or are these the same as Superba with 2 position leavers?
