Apparently the river decided it was time to shift!
Anyone have any pictures?

stolen from FB
"One guy dug a channel to get some flow and the river took over from there. It was dry land between the bars earlier today"

Crazy! I see people kept fishing... priorities and all... Not much else to do while you're stuck there. :D
I bet Mr "I think I'll make a little channel" was loved by all. :(
-
Maybe a bar fisherman made the channel. :o
-
Maybe a fisherman dug a channel to keep his sockeyes cool ;)
-
From how the pic looks, the channel runs through the middle of where everyone used to stand.Did it cut off walk in access completely?
Wow,limited shore access just got a whole lot more limited.Where are those poor peg regulars going to go now?

This, I can TOTALLY imagine. ::) Most people out there don't really have a good knowledge of fluid dynamics, or physics in general.

I was out there today...
The part that washed out was fine and not at all sketchy earlier. The only notice i had was a guy yelling and by the time i got my stuff together to cross it wasn't worth it. Some still crossed to get back off the island and were up to their necks. Some swam the back channel to the rocks to get back and it seemed like the best option but people had too much stuff and some couldnt swim.
SAR came out and used jet ski's and rafts to ferry people across. I thank them for their time and joked with one guy who said he was drywalling before he came so he kinda thanked me for the break.
Police made the call that everyone was coming off the bar. Now that I know someone dug a channel I would have liked to seen that person and let them know what I thought of them...
At one point Bent Rods was called by someone and one of their boats came to take the child/family out of the situation. The customer they had on board was a complete disgrace of a human as he suggested they paid him as it was his guide trip. How about everyone wants to keep the kid safe? some people will die a lonely cold death and wonder why no one is there to comfort them.
Also, In recent years I have been to peg and fished. Regardless of the reputation it has I always felt things were exaggerated, but today I was seriously put to my limits. I thought I was being impatient but when others are on the same page as you it becomes more democratic in the sense that majority rules. Take a hint that when half a bar is yelling at your group you are doing something wrong. CUT/Break off your snags, DON'T SIT YOUR DRIFT FOREVER, and YOUR LIMIT OF FISH IS YOUR LIMIT. I've never seen it this stupid. I think everyone from the Lower Mainland drives out to Peg because it is all anyone knows. I hope some of the more eastern spots are not as bad. I can fish shoulder to shoulder and people are usually nice as long as you understand how to fish shoulder to shoulder and work together. Tomorrow I will set my sights out somewhere along the #7

Also just made a donation to Chilliwack SAR. I appreciate their time and effort! I encouraged others on the bar to do the same and hopefully they realize services like that are free but cost money too.
-
The Fraser can change in a minute. Especially
The sand Bars...
Probably go up to Agassi Bridge. Or is that
Stupid like Peg.
Want catch some Sockeye, don't want to
Stand in line to do it
-
Hehehe, I enjoy reading your post LP.
Personally if my guided trip was cut short because some homers couldn't realize they were about to go tits up on a sandbar, I'd be beyond choked. As for the goof who suddenly had the light go on in his head and started to dig, how does that surprise you...... or anyone??? It's Pegleg, easily the biggest gong show in British Columbia!
The only unfortunate thing to come from this is now the Ringling Bros' shoulder to shoulder crowd is going to pollute the other bars with their tomfoolery.
-
How big of a channel did this guy dig?
As to complaining about PEG gong show when you go to a madhouse what do you expect ???
Anyone that spend good money on a charter would not be too thrill to see that money going to save gong show participants. Also don't support saving the clowns that ski off limits.
Had a great time this morning in one of the North/East bars. Lots of room on either side, got 2 socks and spring in 3 hrs. Worth the drive.
-
Some kids dug some deep holes in the sand a couple days before then this guy decides to make a channel out of them. I would have loved to see this all happen.

The guide was called to escort an infant child and it's parents. The entire bar wasn't asking for an escort, also they were probably 100 yards or so down anchored anyway. took 10 minutes.

The parents are idiots!! Bringing your kids to Peg Leg? Seriously? I am sorry but this gong show is no place for kids. At any given moment something could escalate and profanities are being thrown around everywhere. Not good parenting IMO

Better keep them behind locked doors with earplugs and blindfolds. ::)
Seriously, I dont know what you think goes on at popular bars. You paint everyone with the same brush. Thats the bigger shame.

40 years old, 3 kids. I have the right to say what I want just as you do. My opinion is what it is. I let my kids have tons of freedom I would just not subject them to this crap. I have been many times, before deciding not to participate anymore. I have seen lots of fights, broken some up infact.

I was called from quite a ways downriver by someone who was watching me land a big Sturgeon with clients. I reeled in my rods asap the second whoever called me mentioned a baby. to tell you the truth when I was there picking up the mom and baby it did look exactly like everyone wanted to jump on board. It was sorta world war z like :( .
Glad everyone made it to shore safely, I called SAR but they had been already called long before.
It was not funny the guys casting their betties near my boat angrily as I was plotting how to get to this spot, those turds can kiss my azz.
-
Perhaps you need to take a quiet moment, go behind the locked doors with earplugs and blindfolds and think about the contradictions you have posted and how utterly ridiculous you portrait yourself on this thread. Till then please stay at PEG and do not move to the other bars on #7.

Since when do people become holier than thou because they choose not to contradict and be a hypocrite? Go look how you've contradicted yourself in the two posts in this thread before embarrassing yourself further.

Alrighty... let's keep it civil, all.
ALL.

Someone should pitch a reality show for bar

Nice job, glad you were able to take care of the family. Disgusting people would cast at you, sorry you had to deal with that.
-
Indeed! Kudos to Bent Rods and Chilliwack SAR for all their efforts, no matter the behaviour of some.
-
Crazy! I see people kept fishing...
Years ago a 5 mile by 2 mile chunk of ice broke free on Lake St. Clair in Ontario and Coast guard choppers had to rescue Hundreds of Ice fishermen. About 30 of them had to be physically put into choppers because they didn't want to stop fishing. I guess the ice was moving at the ideal trolling speed. Charges resulted.
-
LOL - never underestimate the deep seated OCD in fishermen!
