Title: Non-tidal Fraser River, August 18th 2014: best sturgeon trip ever
Post by: mr.bean on August 18, 2014, 08:57:57 PM
once a year, I treat myself  ,my son and one of my buddies to a guided sturgeon trip.  I usually fish from shore, so this was a treat for me. our guide has a 21 foot jet boat. we started out just above the mission bridge. our bait was big chunks of sockeye. our guide is fishing the fraser for more than 25 years, so I hoped for a good day. holy sheit. within 1 1/2 hours we had 4 good bites. first  a 3 footer for my friend, his first sturgeon ever. than  I hit a 6 1/2  one, he jumped twice, came right to the boat before  the main line broke off. then my son hooked into a 7 footer, same scenario, for some reason               the main line snapped. he jumped a couple times and he was gone. after that it was my turn again and I reeled in another 3 footer. it died down, so we moved up closer to the slough area. it took about an hour and my buddy lost  a 6 footer, than my son  reeled in another 6 1/2 one . it was dead again for about an hour till we managed to hook a 2 footer. just before we finished for the day I managed  to get a 7 footer at the hatzic flats. our guide told us , the day before he barely got a sniff, so it was just  a lucky day I guess. you never know. sorry still don't know  how to post any pics.
