There is an EXCELLENT article on kokanee fishing in the May 2014 issue of BC Outdoors magazine. I think you can contact then and have the back issue mailed to you. Or some fishing shops might still have it in stock. Tons of good info, however the article is mainly focused on trolling for them from a boat.

If i could troll for them i wouldnt have asked this question.I was thinking of krill but i live far from the city and i doubt they sell krill around here and i going tommorow.Im stoppoing to buy hooks and weights from canadian tire so maybe i could buy single eggs?Do they work?
thanks

If I was to bait fish from shore this time of year for Kokanee, it would be off the bottom (slip weight on main line, swivel, then fine leader with the sharpest hooks I could afford) with red krill/maggots. Remember they have soft lips and don't release well (low survival rate), so set the hook without lip-ripping force and retain what you catch. I've only ever caught them on the fly in the spring when the schools are seen surface feeding. Fun fighters and tasty - the only freshwater fish I'll keep.
