Title: Derby Reach or Duncan Bar Spring Fishing?
Post by: Archer on April 05, 2014, 07:46:27 AM
Taking my 4 year old to Derby on Sunday. Anyone fish there in the spring? I am thinking floating worms on her medium rod, and set up a bar rig on my salmon rod. Maybe buy a Gypsey spoon to float about?? Thanks!

better chance at some small sturgeon than anything prob, id bottom fish personally for different coarse fish and sturgeon, I've landed 3-4 foot sturgeon on heavy salmon gear. worms or roe on the bottom

Thanks Wonder.
I will float with my daughters light set up, and plunk with my 10'.6" rod with 50lb braded & 25lb leader and fill the hook with worms.  A small sturgeon would be a bonus  :D
Would love my 4 year old daughter to land a wee Cutty or Dolly, it would motivate her to come fishing with daddy more often  8)

You would be better off going to one of the local lakes that has been stocked recently with Trout.

Thanks firstlight.

I may consider hitting a local puddle, was at Green Timbers the other week, just after the release and nothing caught but the lake was FULL of risers! :o
