With the slow start to steelhead fishing comes a bunch of questions; where the steelheads at?; over fishing?; Season just late?; pollution?; too many predators?; etc.
Anyway, back to the subject: trout river fishing.
I've heard more trout/chat caught in the river than steelies so far but neither for me yet.
I figure the best method would be float fishing with lots of hiking and also give an opportunity for both steelhead and trouts.
Any advice on how to catch more trout/char in the rivers ?

most bulls are caught as a bycatch while targeting steel, so keep hunting steel.
bulltrout like deep pools and runs in the river and are also found in some tailouts anything steel like bulls like.

caught a beautiful little rainbow the other day while hunting for steel on a big pink worm! Was about a pound and a bit.
