Very, very slow, like many rivers North island (and the whole island in general).
Buddy lives up there, is a good rod, fished it all winter break and only heard of 9 fish caught over 2 weeks.

In addition to the low water, apparently this is the year class that the hatchery lost something like 22,000 smolts and only released 8000 or so (due to an otter invasion). So I'd expect fewer fish to return regardless of whether this was a normal year or not.

Also.. it's probably blown. Super flashy system, and they are still getting lots of rain. Probably fish able by Thursday if forecast stays the same.

Drove over the quatse a couple days ago, looked fishy, left my rod at home... :(
