I wonder of thats brunette river it spilled into? Either way not good!

Yes brunette creek. This is right beside Gaglardi overpass and Lougheed Highway.
-
because thats exactly what the brunette needs, that little river was already in bad shape.

I could think of alot worse things than coal spilling. 3 cars isn't alot.
Though any spill isn't good. Coal is a product that is kept in a open environment all the time, whats a little spill compared to the oil leaching off the highway into the creek.
Probably about 3 loaded coal trains take that route everyday, Only reason you heard anything is because it happend in a urban area.

This afternoon, I was there after it happened while I was heading to shop at Costco. I didn't know it was a train derailment as roads near the railroad were blocked. The railroad is heavily used as about 3 out of 5 times I go to shop at this Costco on a weekend, I have to deal with a train crossing.
It's a problematic crossing too, as I've even experienced a downed crossing arm with sirens on Gaglardi Road and Government St. and there was no train in sight for over 30 minutes!
It's unfortunate that trains derailed off the tracks, but luckily, it was only coal and not crude oil or some other toxic chemicals.
