Just stumbled across Shimano Aerocast series float rods . It supposedly is top of the line Shimano product with interesting twist ,it is an oval instead of round blank.

I thought only the grips were oval and not the blank itself

Apparently the blank is oval  so in one orientation of it it is more effective during casting and in the other it gives you better fish fighting characteristic. That is all a was able to find. These rods are sold in EU and used for carp fishing ,but I've got curious whether they could be used fore steelhead/salmon catching.
