Title: Nasty Virus Alert!
Post by: IronNoggin on December 18, 2013, 06:27:33 PM
Heads Up Folks!

Today I received an Email titled: "Your Amazon.com order (and then a sequence of numbers...)".

Now I well knew I personally had NOT made any orders through Amazon...

But...

Maybe The Missuz did! 'Tis that time of year after all... Hmmmmmm...

So I Stupidly decided to Sneak A Peek and maybe just find out what She might have got me for Christmas...

MISTAKE!  :o

Although two of the AV programs caught it, the damn thing managed to disable one of them (taking an hour to get back up to snuff) and was a Real PAIN to eventually get rid of! Keep in mind I run 4 AV programs at all times. This one was NASTY!

Thought I'd letcha all know, Be Careful out there!!

Cheers,
Nog - Thankfully Back Up & Running...

Got a few of those myself but I know Amazon never sends you a zip file, and another tell tale sign is the file size...why zip a 48kb file??

Computer viruses are like STDs,the more you screw around the better your chance of getting one.

I recieved one of those email. I was going to order a book from Amazon untill I found out that the shipping cost was twice the cost of the book. A day later the email appears in my inbox. I went and checked my Amazon account and no I had no book orders there. Delete. I would like to send to the originator a virus  like herpes or aids. You know some thing that they will remember for the rest of there lives.. Maybe even this is too good for them. I lost lots of personal stuff due to viruses.
