Title: Winter Chinook from Ambleside?
Post by: Ambassador on December 10, 2013, 05:18:28 PM: Saw a post a from a guy named Rick on FWR's Facebook page talking about fishing off the shores of West Vancouver for Winter Chinook. I highly assume he was in a boat with downrigger gear, but I'm wondering if anyone has had any luck pitching spoons from shore for these beauties, or do they travel too deep and far off shore to hit? Other than getting frequently skunked there, I like fishing Ambleside. I'm going to try tossing a Gibbs Gypsy nice and far this weekend and see if I can land something and change my luck there.

Winter chinook are pretty much into following around bait fish to my understanding, so if the bait is in close I wouldn't see why a few fish wouldn't be in close as well. Watch for birds on the water, always seems to be a good indication of a bait ball when I'm fishing coho or cutties off the beach.

Look for a big guy in a black jacket + orange and white ball cap and come say hello. Hoping my 1/2 ounce Crocs and Gypsy's will be big enough for the monster spring I intend on pulling out (now that's optimism!).

That's it. Shouldnt be hard to find me - I cant imagine there will be many out!
