Title: Fraser Valley, November 23rd 2013: Not done yet on the North side
Post by: Sandman on November 23, 2013, 12:22:43 PM
There are still a lot of chrome fish coming in yet.  These are two of 8 I got this morning.  The tide was way out when I started and between the deep mud and shallow water, I could not get my fly near the fish i could see rolling in the middle of the river.  I went back and grabbed my sons rod again and proceeded to hook chrome fish after chrome fish.  An 1/8 oz pink croc on a slow retrieve.

Must be nice to live so close to the North side rivers :)
I stayed close to the big city for my last day of salmon fishing this season.  I landed a dark coho and lost a silver jack.  It's a bit chilly out there for wading into the water.

I admire the tenacity of those who go out fishing when it's cold like this.
Any reward is well-deserved.

I will be out again tomorrow Milo, if only for a few hours.  I also have to go early when it is REALLY cold, so I get those few hours before work begins.

Heh, I'll also be out, potentially in my kayak floating down. Holla if I float by.

Sandman, if you hearken back to our conversation just over 2 years ago...since this post was made in a Fishing Reports forum, surely THIS post must be a report.  :)

Yes, you are correct.  I fell off the wagon. Note no specifics on water bodies, just technique.

True.
But it won't happen before January 15th.

I actually enjoy my yearly 2-month hiatus from fishing.
Allows me to take care of things (and people!) that get neglected during the other 10 months of the year.

Late report due to school work. Was out on the weekend to catch some chum (wanted fish and chips and some caviar). 3 coho on twitched jigs (all came undone) and 2 wilds and a hatch on roe (released). Plenty of chum on the go-to jig, fun on the switch rod and floating line. Easy 20 hooked by each of us. Every other cast, same spot behind a log, float down. Got 4 chum that were in the 3-4 pound range (picture bellow).

still good to see clean silver chum still being caught. North side may still produce clean chum into december it looks like. Bottom pic is really good color. Nice fish.

I was fishing on the North Side yesterday. Still lots of chum moving up from the Fraser and I landed 10 to 12 fair hooked fish using chartreuse rolled muddlers and KCKs. No keepers for me though I lost 2 chrome fish. Lots of anglers for mid week and lots of fish taken. I also saw a pair of guys take some clean coho including 2 hatchery fish. If the cold snap coming next week lasts well into the month this may be my last trip of the year.
