Post by: adam668 on October 21, 2013, 09:08:48 PM
Does anybody know of any good places around the lower mainland BC for fishing chum at this time of year?

Lots of chum surfacing along the fraser north arm in the evening incoming.  Won't bite and too far out.  Like what Minnie-me says.. Stave is def your best bet.

Or even the Vedder, there's decent numbers of chum there, and there is a greater number of coho in the vedder. You would need a boat for the Harrison but if you are willing to do a bit of a hike, stave is okay.

Stave and Harrison are your two best bets

Anywhere on the Lower Fraser. I caught a 30lb chum on Sunday when I was targeting cohos.

Fisherman's story. LOL. There is no 30lb chum here, but what did you use to hook a chum at tidal Fraser? If it is spoon, what colour works best for it?

Any chance to catch chum from a boat on the main Fraser?  Or is best to go to the Tribs?

By catch when bar rigging for coho.

Landed a 10 lb female and 15 lb male chum today on the Whack river.

Using a Colorado blade for coho  with 8 lb mono on the reel.

Lots of chum around today but not many coho biting.

Your best odds are the tributaries

my dad was on the Vedder this morning and limited out by 9am on coho. If you can find the right water they are there

The world record is something like 36 pounds, so are you just joshin' us?

I got similar size chum on my second cast on jig two weeks ago. I can not believe that it can be so big. I also check Internet . Actual word record is 45pounds.
36pounds is IGFA record

You probably can get those huge chum in glacial northern rivers where you also have chance for 60-70 lb behemoth tyees. Have not seen or heard anything like that on the Fraser.

One day you will get one. Originally, I was thinking that it is a huge spring. It was jumping a few times. Only close to shore  I realize that it is chum. Too bad I didn't have camera.
