Title: Lower Mainland, October 13th 2013
Post by: Damien on October 13, 2013, 01:16:43 PM
5 hours of hard slogging and one hatch to hand.  Good to be the only one fishing this area, but at the same time it would be nice to have a few more chances.  If you know the spot, lets keep it quiet.   I didn't blur out the background.  Call it faith in humanity.

Caught on a blue fox (silver with blue body).

Man was it cold this morning.  This fish was caught soon after first light,  mist still coming off of the water as the sun crept up from the horizon.

It was glorious.

Then nothing else.  Off the water at 12 noon.

Had to tow a stranded boat back to the dock, which was the drama to end the day.  He had no paddle, no heaving line in a 20 foot Bayliner with the current pushing him aground.  Lucky with my friends 12 foot tinny and a 9.9 we were able to get him unstuck (barely) and bring him back to the launch.

I know the spot and it's a tough place to fish.  First light is the ONLY bite of the day....  I've tried MANY days there and it's totally hit and miss, with more misses then anything else.  Good on you to get one at least.

Beauty fish, way to go!  Always love seeing a nice general report like this.

If you continue to sit in that clamp on seat you should be wearing a snorkel and fins. :o
Nice fish.

Yeah, it is a frustrating place.  Lots of fishing showing, but not biting.  Also quite a few seals chasing the fish all around.  Given how small the place is, the fish no doubt are pretty spooked and not thinking too much about grabbing something to eat.

Firstlight, yes these clamp ons are horrific.  I was in my buddy's boat, and yes, I did have to pick myself up off the floor of the boat once on the day.  Lucky I fell inwards and not backwards in the water.  Shoulder is still aching from the spill though, maybe the bath would have been a better landing for me.

They really should be outlawed.
I would be very surprised if they haven't caused a drowning already.

I've seen people put a twist wire tire across the rubber coated bars on underside of the bench seat to keep it stuck on there.
