Been thiking about going myself. Send me a PM, maybe I will meet you at Deer Lake in Burnaby on Monday. Bring some corn meal doughballs, I'll grab some worms, we'll see what works. Cheers!

Back in England I caught all my bigger fish in September/October, carp tend to eat a lot during those months to bulk up for the winter.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.

i cant go monday anymore i think i found a place in ladner to go

People should go to Burnaby Lake, there's a decent number of 30lb and up carp over there. I won't be surprised if a few of the carps are over 40lb. If you're canoeing on the lake, you might even bump into a school of carp which slows down the canoe! Just make sure to use a rod that is designed to handle a large steelhead, and use quality braided fishing line.

This is how big a 40lb carp looks like.

What are the boat restrictions for Burnaby lake? I would love to get dragged around by a big carp in my kayak...
You dont need a boat for a monster though. Ask anyone whos shore fished for sturgeon or shark....

Good luck trying to find a 30lb carp in BC...

Bring your camera if you have the chance to fish or kayak at Burnaby Lake. Also, the lake is full of beavers, many species of ducks, birds, and flying squirrels that jump off trees and glide with their wings!

A detailed report of the what you might find at the Burnaby Lake - they mentioned humans and dogs too!
Do note that the species information for fish isn't complete, as I'm surprised that they didn't mention rainbow trout, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, perch, crappies and pikeminnows.

Still a nice looking fish. gonna put it in your bath tub?
-
Handed it off to a few euro guys beside me, they were pretty happy. They bonked it so doubt its going in the tub. And before anyone asks I was using plain old corn on a hook that day.
-
Nice fish Shawn and that's at Deer Lake!

Did you fish it in any particular way? Ie. Hair rig? Float? Straight on the bottom?
-
Just a regular bottom rig, like I said before tho I don't usually fish the floating dock but stopped there on the way to my usual spot and hooked that guy just off the lily pad edge on the left
