Title: First ever!
Post by: DanJohn on September 21, 2013, 08:46:26 PM
a buddy and me went out for the day. 102 pinks between the two of us, with more on and lost, and 18 double headers. great day to wind down the pink run! not sure if I will ever see another 100 fish day.

Glad you enjoyed yourself. I'm guessing you won't want another, since it is catching and not fishing.
Once the challenge is gone I'm inclined to try something different.

The real question is what was the actual score between you two

56-46, I had the lead for most of the day, then my buddy got a dozen ahead of me. I ended up "losing" but we had a great time trying different methods and flies. My favorite, which was not totally productive was a Balsa wood float I found a year ago, with a jig and curly tail worm under it. I managed 3 fish with this. Was cool to see the float drop on takes. I am usually pure fly, but this granted me an opprotunity to play with gear setups, and still catch fish with my limited knowledge.

When the bite was on, we could do no wrong. I managed fish on super fast retrieves, dead slow, as SOON as my spoon hit the water, there could be takes. It did get super easy, and lots of people will get bored. Ill do it all day, every day if I could. I love a challenge, but I also love catching fish just as much.

Nice report. I don’t think I have ever had a 50 fish day for any species in any water in my life. Maybe 2 dozen max.

Assuming it takes a few minutes to play each fish, you spent nearly *3 solid hours* with a fish on. Would by lying if I said I wasn’t a little envious.
