Title: Capilano, Mouth or Upstream?
Post by: DJ on September 06, 2013, 12:47:57 AM
Heading out at first light.  Just wondering if any fresh fish made it into the sytem recently or are they already going stale.

One of my few opportunities to go with out my child so I can go up the river if the fish are there.  Or would I be better off trying my luck on the beach at the mouth?

Thanks

River got high a week ago and plenty of fish made it through! Having said that, yesterday it got very low again.High tides in the am and more fish starting to build at the mouth! tons of pinks around right now too

Thanks Hotrod.

Went to the Capilano today.  Really should have heeded the advice to explore the area first.  Not easy to get to the river at all.  Ended up at the cable pool and did not feel right fishing it from above the rocks like that, so I climbed down.

Plenty of fish jumping but only 2 very small things hooked.  Did not even bother pulling them out, I just let them spit the hook.

Over all very nice scenery but the mouth may be more productive.

Are those pinks biting at the Cap mouth? I heard they are as tight lipped as the coho.  ;D

Don't forget there is no retention of pinks at the Cap.

Where did the pink in the Cap come from? Does the hatchery stock them? I thought most of the pinks at the Cap mouth are Indian River stock. But if they are caught at Keith Rd run, then they can't be Indian River stock.
