Title: Treble hook to single hook

Is it acceptable to cut two prongs off a treble hook so your left with one hook?

Why not just cut it off and put on a good quality siwash hook?

Ditto. If you can't find siwash hooks, then attach a split ring and you'd be able to put on any regular hook
