Hi,
I got a new Bluefox spinner with triple-hook. How to replace it with single hook? Do I need to break the triple-hook?
Thanks.
-
Yup cut it off.
-
Cut it off, add a split ring then a hook to the aformentioned.
-
Careful when you cut it off......I have had hooks fly off somewhere never to be seen again, well, until you step on it that is.

I had that happened. I now do it in a garbage can.
-
And turn your face away when cutting it.
You can also use open eye'd hooks instead of split rings.
-
You'll need linesman pliers to snap it off . Gammy hook stlye 501 are great to use with these lures , size 1 or 1/0 are great for salmon
-
I usually just grip the hook with pliers while I cut it off to avoid it launching my way at hyper speed.

Many thanks for all who replied!

I highly suggest putting a small ring between your spinner and your hook or even a small swivel. Follow this link and it will increase your hook up ratio substantially. around 5:30 min to 6:45 min is where u can see the bluefox spinner with the swivel and ring clip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0P4XLWNFDs

Not sure I understand why the additional hardware will substantailly increase the hook up ration. I note that at 6:40 the guide just has the open eye siwash snugged right to his lure.

when you replace the hook with a small swivel/split ring make sure you use a smaller hook as well. smaller hooks will hook and hold fish better than larger ones. Going to a smaller hook is probably why you would want to add the extra hardware to place the hook a little bit back farther which will increase hook ups.
anyone wonder why Everyday attaches his hooks to his lures using braided line ? its because the hooks ups and better/more solid plus the fish cant leverage against that small hook to get away as easy as with a larger hook

no I dont wonder why :P im hookin pretty good, id say even giving hasting girls a scare with my hookin 8)
seriously Im going to give dan's rigging a chance for the cohos this year. I know of guys using split rings and barrel swivels on the blue fox, but never seen what everyday has done with his spoons. Its going to be known as the everyday dan rig up
-
Im pretty sure he wasn't the first person to rig a spoon that way
I bet its a lot more work than just slipping on a split ring which is why people don't use it more often

I have used a split-ring and no split-ring on Blue Fox vibrax spinners when fishing for trout. I had a lot more hook-ups when I didn't use a split-ring. An open-eye siwash hook attached directly to the spinner works best for me.
