Title: Avoiding Dogfish/Mudsharks when fishing with Bait
Post by: swimmingwiththefishes on August 21, 2013, 10:44:21 AM
Hey everybody,

My Dad and I have fished Active Pass for many years. Even in the last number of years with the collapse of the Chinook runs we try and give it a go a couple of times, but we often get into Dogfish that take our bait.

Any tips on avoiding this? I've heard that they are more likely to come out at slack tide. Is this true?

My grandfather used to say that if your catching Dogfish you're trolling to slow.

Have to agree with the others you are trolling to slow.  There is no way to ensure you won't catch the little buggers but slow trolling gives them a good opportunity to take your bait.
