Title: North Arm Salmon Fishing
Post by: fisheries on July 31, 2013, 11:45:45 AM
So I've moved this year to just up the street from the North Arm, Victoria drive area.   I've always fished the other main Fraser river arm for pinks/coho/springs.    The North arm is narrower and has alot of shore access.   Does anybody know the percentage of Salmon that come up the North Arm?    I'm mainly thinking for pinks in a months time but wonder if anybody has caught a spring or coho?    I'll probably just try it out and see, hoping to have some luck as going to Delta from Vancouver after work everyday during pink season can be a pain!

Can't give you a specific number, but there are enough salmon (pink, coho and chinook) going through North Arm to keep you busy for a short outing. Second and third weeks of September are typically when you'll see schools of pink salmon travelling by. You won't see school sizes similar to South Arm, so look closely to spot them. Coho salmon don't show themselves as they move through, but they are there in October.

I have actually had one of my more productive days on the north arm.  Good advice above, Pinks from my records move in sooner than that as well. However the schools don't show till around that time. And a bad day fishing is better than a good day at work anyways so it could be worth it.

Since you are so close to the New West area, why not just go upstream a bit and intercept fish from both Fraser Arms.
