Threw a line in for an hour before work this morning. No action for me, but it was more of a recon mission really to check the spot out. There were quite a few fish surfacing, some making quite a splash. What species do you guys think they would be? The guy at my fish store said a few Pinks were already in the Fraser, but it seems a little early no?

You are about a month too early.
Those are probably sockeye.

Early pinks

Early pinks
too early by 3 weeks. Good numbers of sockeye in the river right now. The Tidal section below Mission is also closed to all salmon fishing until July 27th (saturday)

Early pinks
I don't think so, but if they are jumping in the middle of the river they are sockeye. If they are jumping close to shore they are pinks.
Although there should be no pinks in the Fraser now. Also numbers. If there is lot of fish jumping it's either sockeye or pinks.
If it's few might be coho, Chinook, chum.

Definately Sockeye.
Pinks don't really jump but "fin" on the surface.
I always get excited early in the season scouting for pinks when I see jumping fish.
But it is always Sockeye jumping in the middle of the river.

Anyone having any joy down Sapperon lately?

I've been there four times around five hours each time .
Seen maybe five fish caught and have had two bites in that entire
Time .
Quite a bit different than two years ago .

Fished twice last week, both high tide and low tide and didn't even get a bite...

Sapperton is a regular pink salmon fishing location for me. This season has been hit or miss so far. Mostly misses. I usually post updates on my twitter page while I'm actually there, so feel free to follow along for updates.
