Title: soft mesh nets
Post by: keithr on June 27, 2013, 05:18:34 PM
At the end of my last fishing trip I threw away my soft mesh net.  It was stinking up the car, and I've had to cut enough hooks out of it that it was looking pretty holey.
Now I'm thinking I'm going to get one of those nets made with hard mono filament that we are told is so hard on the fish.  Here's my thinking:  that mono line won't absorb odors, and hooks won't get hung up in it.  I realize the hard nets are harder on the fish netted in them, but any fish I'm going to release never sees the inside of my net; they get released without getting netted; the only fish that end up inside that net are headed for the frying pan.  Am I missing something here?
I also realize that barbless hooks don't hang up in the mesh net.
