Title: WTB: Bar rod for Fraser River
Post by: Spawn Sack on May 19, 2013, 07:30:24 PM
In past years I've used my 11"6 med-heavy action baitcasting rod for bottom bouncing. It brought in many decent sized fish, but the rod is being overloaded to say the least.

I think it is rated to chuck up to 2oz, and I often tossed 4oz or higher. With that much weight, plus the current, and a big fish on I'm surprised I didn't bust the rod on a few springs.

I'm looking for a big, ugly, baitcasting style (small eyelets, made for level wind reel) rod. I would also like to use this rod for bar fishing tossing big lead.

I'm not exactly sure what the specs on the rod should be. I'm guessing it would be heavy action, and have a high lure weight rating (I dunno, up to 6oz or something). Probably needs to be 9-12 feet long. Closer to 12 feet preferred.

Just looking for something with loads of backbone to power big fish in with big weights on the line. Dosen't need to be a fancy high end rod, as long as the eyelets are in good condition and the rod is not too beat up I may want to buy it.

I already have a reel that will go well with this rod (7000 Ambassadour).
