So I was hoping to do some guided fishing on the WCVI. Kind of a birthday present to myself.
ive been spoiled fishing up in Haida gwaii the past 2 summers, but not working up there this summer I still want to get out on the chuck.
should I be booking a trip now or am I already late?
Also can anyone recommend a fair priced charter? Day trips or multi day trips. Definitely would want a guide since I have no knowledge of the waters.
thanks

Big Bear Salmon Charters got their early season special (April and May I think) right now if you want to get a few friends together for a charter. $897 for four people for the day if booked before May 1st. $997 for charters in June and July if booked by June 30th.
We just got back yesterday and the others who came along will agree with me that it worked out really well.... Still going through the photos before posting more about it. :)

I was sort of thinking the same thing heading out to the west coast this summer, but I heard rumours that the returning numbers were pittiful.... is this true and will there even be a decent fishery or allowable catch? Any further info would be awesome!

Shawn at Tofino Ospray is a really good option. Great prices and they have a B+B.

I will second Big Bear Charters out of Ukee as well!

Ukee is less crowded, faster to get to from Nanaimo too. Tofino is overpriced IMO. plus i dont want to go with someone who wants to ban river fishing.

Big Bears price is pretty competitive and i see they got nice Grady whites plus another bigger boat coming. We're also considering giving them a go this summer. rods already got some of his trip pics on the FWR Facebook page, looks like a good time...

This trip was good not only because of the abundance of fish, but there was no one around fishing this early in the season. we only fished inshore water too, got to relax on the boat until the fishing was on fire. Not sure why more people don't take advantage of it.
Last year's trip was not bad too, but more boats around us.

If you are considering Tofino, check out Braedy Mack Charters as they are our website supporter in that area.

IronNoggin would be my first choice for guide on the west coast.

x2 if i didn't win a trip up to Kitimat this year I would be going with him again. Matt knows the waters extremely well and will limit you out no problem...
