Title: Salt Spring
Post by: mikeyman on April 11, 2013, 08:17:50 AM
The wife suggested we go to salt spring and stay at our brother in laws family cabin for the first week of July. I have never fished the salt chuck around the area. Would it be worth bringing the boat? How far of a run would it be to get to worth while fishing grounds for salmon or maybe even some bottom fishing? Crab traps or prawn traps? Any information would be greatly appreciated. I would personally rather go to the west coast of the island. But the cabin will cost nothing to stay and we where offered to split the cost on the ferry to get the boat there, or maybe I will just meet them and cross the straight if the weather permits.

Fish the lakes for bass and trout. Might be a bit cool for bass but give it a shot. Could be hard finding some shoreline to fish from, lots of private land surrounding the lakes.

It's prime time for Bass in St Mary Lake lots of action but fish are quite small-local salt is more or less a joke with all the closures and little to catch in the open areas.
