Well I don't get out to this lake very often, but Rodney's video/report gave me the kick in the pants to load up the ol tinny and try my luck.
Fished Kawkawa from roughly 10:30 to around 5. Took a couple hours to find the groove but managed to get 3 early and tried for the big guy for a few hours. Managed a Pretty nice limit, and even got a chance to see "the master" at work. I think at one point the fish were just jumping in his boat.....
Most of the fish came on chrome dodgers with red/green wedding band long lined. Tried a small weight on the line at first but they were liking it up top. Had a couple to the boat anchored chronie fishing black/brown ice cream cone.
All in all a great day with about 15 fish to the boat.

Thanks for the report. How do you fish the wedding band? I look at the wedding band sold at Walmart. It seems to be a small spinner with some red/chartreuse beads and then a bare hook. The hook trails the spinner quite a bit. So do the fish bite the bare hook? Or do you put some bait on the hook like a quill.
Me and my friend were there today. We didn't know how to troll. The weather was cold and we managed to catch 4 only on quill. We didn't have 4lb flurocarbon, so that is probably why the fish didn't care much about our quill. :) We had 2 at bottom and 2 with float. But the weather is too brutal to stay. Actually it hailed a little bit and windy. So a tough day.

Thanks FA. It shows how new I am to Kokanee fishing. ;D Two guys fishing 10 hours only 4 bites. That is quite miserable compared to others who were limiting out. Need to learn from 'the master' or at least I will get some krill and colour cure/dye from his store next trip. Our krill bought from aquarium store just not good. Actually 3 of the 4 fish were taken from some nicely coloured krills given to us as a gift by a nice guy. When we used up all his krills, so went our luck. He knows 'the master' and he fishes from a 16 ft power boat. He even told us he recently fished with Rodney. Super nice and helpful guy indeed.

When the fishing is hot you can troll with just the wedding band. If fishing is tough I'll throw on a small dodger size 4/0. Even with the small dodger it takes away alot of the fight which is why I think most guys bait fish with krill, but I have to be in the right mood to sit still and bait fish. Even if I'm just sitting doing nothing while trolling I still feel like I'm being more productive. LOL. I've never trolled with krill on the hook but I think it would affect the action of the lure. Sometimes I just put a single kernel of corn on the hook of the wedding band but quite often troll and have success without it. You could also try scents.
I'm a krill newbie myself (with dyeing my own) but I don't think it would matter what brand cure as it's just to color it. I chose pautzkes just because they advertise it has krill scent. I know.... Scenting krill with krill??
