Headed out in a friends boat yesterday morning with the intentions of dropping some crab traps and trolling for salmon. By 7am we had our traps out and were dropping the downriggers with an anchovy on one and a spoon on the other. We trolled around the bell-bouy area for a few hours, seeing plenty of bait and fish on the sounder, but unfortunately had no takers. At 10 am we checked the three traps we had set and were pleased to find we had more than our limit of keeper-sized crab. We ended up with more than half of our limit being over 7".
We continued to troll for another hour but with similiar results we decided to call'er quits early, and "clean off" the boat in the Fraser while targeting sturgeon.

Sounds like a good time.

fished West Van. no takers didn't see any boats with action, but a great day.
Prawning was alright with a 2 hr soak and 80 prawns in 4 traps.
hey Dion, mind me asking the depth for crab?
brought the traps out a couple weeks ago, 35ft and 45ft with mostly undersize.

We were out with Bon Chovy and I lucked out and got one nice feeder. we also limited out on crab. I hooked into mine off West Van just east of the pink apartments. We headed out to the bouy about one and hooked into two shakers. Was a great day to be one the water.

Sounds like its time for a Crab feast.
Going to get out there before the commercial boys this year for some easy pickins.
