Have been fishing hard since Christmas with nothing to show for the effort.Been getting close as we have seen/heard of fish the last four times out.Buddy finally gets on the scoreboard today with this chunky wild doe mid-river on a blade....(http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r79/Spoonman_05/P2030004_zps11d692ac.jpg)

Nice fish!
Might be time for a pair of waders now.

No, he just realized that his jeans were as good as his Bears

Good on your buddy for getting in there with the fish and getting his feet wet!
-
Go easy guys..... If he wasn't standing in the water you'd be giving him a hard time for not standing in the water.
Nice fish Spoonman. Was the water very cold?
-
Yes, the water was quite cold.Have been trying to convince him of the benefits of waders for a while,I have an old pair he could use. He's a little quirky and is more cofortable going the jeans/raingear route.Won't even wear gumboots.I find it amusing that people feel the need to make comment on his attire when I post a photo of him.But as you can see he ain't no pussy afraid to get his paws wet.......
-
Full props to your buddy for getting and not wearing gloves. I don't think anyone is commenting on his etiquette, only that he might be a bit nutso.
I used to fish without waders and invariably I got sick after standing in the water all day.
I was cold in my waders last trip out.

Thank you.
I wasn't ragging on him for poor fish handling, his fishing technique, or anything else of the sort. I was merely commenting that if you plan on catching fish you may want waders to keep yourself dry. It must have sounded like an insult since three people have taken it that way. I guess if he were wearing a Tuxedo I shouldn't comment on his attire so long as he's properly handling the fish.

Jealousy makes us feel a little negative....

Dion is such a hater...

In addition to being a moderator, Dion is also a fashion police. ;)

Very nice fish! Waders are overated :P
-
the guy is in effing jeans a day or two into Feb! I think it deserves a comment or two ::) nice fish
-
Thank you.

Hey I wore a tuxedo my last time out and got nothing but compliment's. Nice fish by the way and yah gotta' love a guy who ain't afraid to get wet. Full Marks, Well Done and did I say , Beauty fish !!!!
-
Good on your buddy for getting in the river to release the fish properly. Too many times I have seen them dragged up on the rocks by guys in jeans. Well done..
-
Thanks for posting! What a hog, any estimate of weight?

I find it amusing that you find it amusing. The dude is standing in a river in jeans in the winter.
Noteworthy and worth commenting on.
Fish handling looks good though.
-
I agree...what's with these people that are always looking to make some smart comment. It's like freakin elementary school all over again.
Great report and beauty fish and continue to wear what ever the hell you want regardless of what jealous beakers say.
-
No, he just realized that his jeans were as good as his Bares.
ROTFLMAO!!! A worthy candidate for funny one-liner of the year. ;D
If would be even funnier if it weren't so true! Especially with the newer Bare line of waders. ::)
As for the fisherman in jeans...my hat is off to you, young man. (http://www.photochimps.com/vb/images/smilies/hatsoff.gif)
You showed more respect for your catch than some people I know who wear over a grand worth of SIMMS wading products.
-
I agree...what's with these people that are always looking to make some smart comment.
This is a discussion forum what did you expect? It was a great effort to release the fish, but i've seen many other jean wearing fisherman beach wild fish because they didn't want to get wet....so i find all the 'smart comments' to be valid.
-
I commend the guy for getting in the river in those conditions but do think it's worth a comment or two. How many times have I seen guys in all simms gear back up 15 yards off the river just to land a beauty fish. quirky or not this guy gets my respect!
-
If you come to any online discussion with the expectation of negative comments from other participants, then chances are you will put any unintended comment out of context.
As blaydRnr said, it's a DISCUSSION forum, one shouldn't be surprised if a comment is made about the jeans because it's unusual.
Dion's "Might be time for a pair of waders now." doesn't mean he thinks any less of the guy. He probably, like me, thought the guy is pretty crazy for getting into that cold water to hold a fish (good for him, putting welfare of the fish ahead of himself). Most of us wouldn't do it, that's why we have waders, so he suggested... Not sure how one little comment turns him into a jealous beaker who is always out to make a smart comment...

so true which makes this guy's actions more commendable...he made a choice that deserves everyone's respect.

You wear leaky ones I believe. ;D ;D

I rarely catch fish, so I don't have to worry about standing in the water. ;D

That's the same problem I have!
I remember when I wore shorts so I could wade my first steel season (much like I would in the fall), big mistake.
I commend that guy, it's not easy to do, and I wouldn't dare do it again. Bad enough having leaky waders!

Rodney's not kidding :D

Nice fish, congrats to you, your time on the water paid off ;)
after taking another look at that picture it looks like the fish is snarling :D

HYPOCRITE ::)

No worries guys ;) it's all good....I will admit he looks a little out of place on the river at times.......guess I'm just use to seeing him in jeans so it doesn't seem odd to me...didn't even realize at the time he was in the water that far till I looked at the pic....we're both in outdoor trades,so wet and cold is nothing out of the ordinary.....
-
You guys are all looking into everyones pics too much !!
I didnt even notice he was in jeans until after several posts were made about it. Guess i only looked at the fish while others were looking at other things ::)
HOOK - doesnt need to pick apart pictures :P

Congratulations! Beauty! One thing about steelhead fishing, keep trying, and you'll have success.
