I'm hoping to make it to the island in March. Maybe around the Tofino area. Anything worth targeting at that time of year on the fly? I may get one day to fish as the trip is more for family (wife and kids) than a fishing trip. Still, I have been told I am allowed to wet a line ;). Gotta look ahead, I don't have a lot of time these days for tying flies so i want to get a head start.

March should be good for steelies.
I'm not too familiar with West Coast flows, and it might be a bit late for chrome fish but the rivers should be in peak run.
Tofino I'm not sure what flows there are, but a quick internet search is always a good idea, almost every river has steelies out there.
If you can get over to East side... that is probably one of the best times for big chrome fish!
Good luck!

Steelhead sounds good. It is one fish that still eludes me. Seems like there's lots of rivers to choose from.
I guess the first step is to figure out where we want to go (Tofino was the first idea because we went a few years back and enjoyed it). Somewhere near the ocean so the kids can explore etc.
Still lots of time to plan though.
Thanks.

Salmon River at Sayward for big steelies. Lotsa room for fly casting.
