Saw 2 fish in upper river yesterday one wild one hatch, the fish are where you find them.

saw 1 guy hit two fish within mins of each other just down from the crossing yesterday morning. On his first fish i was following his drift with my swing, he set the hook and i was instantly snagged with his fish. Felt good though !!
i wonder if i had been first through the drift, would i have been the one to hook up ???
met up with my dad later in the day, he wasnt feeling great so came out later on. he watched a hatchery landed/bonked below train bridge and talked to a spey guy that had one break him off earlier in the morning as well. He had also seen a fish rise a few times or perhaps several fish rise once each :o (rises were in different spots each time)
I had a great time out there helping a buddy learn to cast the two hander, found out that he is actually a right handed caster even though he is a lefty LoL

Hook do you think it is worth me taking the Spey rod out on Thursday :-\
I have not had any luck with the gear and I need more casting practice on the spey ;D
-
Britguy - any day with the spey is more fun than a day with a gear rod especially if you need the casting practice ;D
this is my opinion and not the opinion of all fly fisherman ;)
HOOK - just found out my rotator cuff is messed up :(

::) Id rather catch fish.
That's the difference between breeds, some love to fish, others like to catch more.

I love fishing, and I love catching fish.
I've probably gone to a 60% fly fishing, 40% gear fishing mix... and out of that gear fishing probably 80% is swinging metal around.
I just refuse to fly fish for winter steelies, and get my fix on summer runs instead.
Besides, swinging spoons is more fun and easier on the body any ways ;)
