Title: Dyke Upgrades, Fraser River, Chilliwack
Post by: chris gadsden on December 18, 2012, 04:08:25 PM
Glad to see this happening, maybe the politicans are finally realizing you can never take enough gravel out of the Fraser River to prevent a flood. Well maybe some are. :D

The dyke upgrade may provide a small opportunity to promote public access along all upgraded dykes.

I recall reading a proposal for walking trails both sides of the Fraser from Vancouver to Hope as a regional park objective.  The dyke upgrade would be a time to start.

Money well spent, not like earlier this year when they tried to put together a make shift dike to appease the people who knowingly bought on the outside of the city's protection system. That was a huge waste of money.

There are dyke upgrades happening in Squamish along the Mamquam channel as well. They are increasing the top of dyke elevation by over a metre.
