On the Vedder this morning from 930 until 12ish.
Took my kindergarten kid out of school today, as I promised him a morning on the river with a fire and a hot dog lunch today.
He didn't care it was pouring down rain, that it was cold out or that the river was too high. He just wanted to fish... and skip school.
I should clarify, he wanted to watch me fish while he got to check out the dead chum on the shore and ask why they didn't have any eyeballs.
We saw a few chum jumping, and never got into anything. Wasn't really part of the plan today.
Great few hours just exploring, enjoying the rain & river, teaching how to make a fire, eating lunch and packing up some garbage (ours & others that were kind enough to leave it for us), and teaching how to put out a fire properly.
I'm ready for some winter steel fishing now though.

I agree a day your son will not forget. Great pics, teaching your son those lessons, how to respect the environment (picking up other people's garbage) will give our river systems a chance.

BEAUTIFUL!

Great post and a lovely lesson about the important things in life. Thanks for sharing this, it made me smile. :)

Yes, some things are a lot more important than catching a fish.
The report made me smile too!

Thanks guys.
It was a great morning and lunch on the river. Made me realize I need to do that more often.
I was impressed with my 5 year old too, he wouldn't stop insisting despite the weather... showed me I should be ready for winter fishing! My tough kid. haha
