Title: Taking a friend fishing
Post by: ICA on November 15, 2012, 01:21:31 PM
Fellas,
I have a friend who is currently going through a lot in life, and I thought it might be a good idea to take him fishing and get out for something exciting like fishing. So, can any of you fine fishermen tell me if there are still decent Chum fishing on the Vedder whereby perhaps my friend could hook some and not necessarily for the meat but just the joy of fishing, since I know he likes fishing, but have not been out for some time now. Hoping to get out tomorrow, so any latest advice would be great and thanks in advance!

The majority of the river is in excellent fishing shape. i would say start near or above vedder bridge and work your way up from hole to hole. i was just down there this morning and its in fantastic shape.

Not likely.  While you may find some in good enough shape to give you a good scrap (and not play the role of the water soaked log), it would be a miracle to hook a fish good enough for eating.  I was fishing the Dewdney Slough (only a kilometer or so from the main stem Fraser) and all the chum I saw had black bellys, although many were still scrappy enough to put out some good reel screaming runs with numerous leaps.

there is the odd good chum out there, my friend was catching 20 or so a day  fish a day and about 3 were silver.  the rest were unfit table food. Good fights all around and fun to be had though.
He also walked away with a coho, silver bullet.
Good luck on the water tomorrow, I just might see you on some of the runs. Ill be out for some fun as well on the jigs.

Was out today for a few minutes just above teskey rock and the river is full of chum.   There's still clean  ones out there.  But if you just wanna play some fish  you should do good. Go buy some roe sacks from Fred's , or try pink and white wool, or other combinations , like green red and cerise blended together. Good luck.
