Has anyone fished the Stellako river in November? its a tributary of Francois Lake near Fraser Lake..thats about 2 hours west of PG.. im heading there for a hunt on friday and wanna throw the fly in the afternoon if there is time. Never fished there so late was curious what to try and throw for a fly?? got a few muddlers and egg patterns but not sure what else!! any help would be great!!! thanks

Hi Charts, I can't speak to fishing but I'm working up near PG right now and the weather's getting pretty miserable for fishing... The temperature's about to take another dive later this week and the river edges may be iced up pretty good. I don't want to turn you off of trying, but just a bit of info so you're prepared. If you're from this area and used to this type of fishing, call me a wuss and forget this post :D. For me, the only fish that could motive me in these conditions is winter steel :).

wit all the recent sokeye spawn, egg patterns would be good and maybe some flesh patterns as well!

great thanks for the info guys. Ya it'll be cold and fish may be a little lazy but if its flowing all right i may still throw the fly. I would love to go further west for steelies but its too late for them.. got my warm fishing and hunting gear cause I can see that Artic Air coming!! hopefully the hunting is good!!

Make sure you check your regs...I may stand to be corrected here but I think I recall reading that you need a special permit to fish this river. Just found this on Google, you may want to research it further re its current validity...may well be just a regular species conservation sticker...not sure but check it out anyway :)
"The Stellako River is only about seven miles long and the best of the fishing water has been purchased by the Nature Conservatory. It has special fishing regulations including catch and release, gear restrictions and a special licence."
