Title: Tidal Fraser River, October 27th 2012
Post by: bbronswyk2000 on October 27, 2012, 06:43:45 PM
Only had about 30 minutes this morning after I hit the gym. Hit the river and quickly started tossing some spinners. I started at 11:30am and had until 12pm. On my last cast BAM!!! Fish on. Played it and got it close noticing it has a missing adipose fin, BONUS!! Got it in quickly and booted it back to my truck to be home in time to get my kids out where they needed to be. It was a nice 10lb doe. Sorry but this is the only photo I have of it

I remove the belly fat and all the bones. Its so much nicer to smoke that way. No meat was wasted as I carefully slice under the pin bones and remove them. It may not look pretty but its perfect.

Vacuum sealing them always make them look distorted too. I think you did a pretty good job.  :)

I fillet fish similar to you as well. I always trim the belly fat and cook it up for the dog.

It's actually surprising how many fisherman don't know how to fillet fish.

No worries. I know of some people fishing on the south side that are getting a bunch of fish but 6 of 7 fish are usually wild.

Anyone notice the clarity of the lower Fraser lately?
Can you still get them chucking lures?

nucks  you gotta try this
no bones meat just slides of the skin
dog can still have the skin
they do need brineing a bit longer
because of the fat content
so what i do is all my fish get filletedwhen i get home
all the bellies go into the same bags
then i smoke all the bellies at once
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Water clarity was anywhere around 1-2 ft. on the Fraser yesterday.
This was around Langley area.

X2 belly is the BEST part of the fish. I BBQ mine until crispy and look forward to that then the flesh itself. Skin goes to the dog
