Hi, I have been fishing with jigs alot and find I only have success when the water is fast moving. Are jigs effective in slow water or a slough? Any advice would be appreciated.

if u give the jig some moment in still water it should work just dont abasalutly yank on because then the float makse a big poping noise witch fish dont like

I typically use them in slower moving water (walking pace) with some chop on the surface. If you're short floating them, the choppy water will move your float up and down and do the same to you jig giving it some good action.

If the water is too slow for a reasonable dead drift and you must twitch or reel in then you are more likely to snag fish (especially Chum). In these circumstances I switch to a blade and shorten the distance from float to weight.

Thanks, I will give this a try tomorrow morning. I have never had any success with blades.

Some good advice, in the slower water(but still moving), try a very subtle wrist twitch, it's called the "induced take", we used it today for Chumlies and it was the ticket.

Could always twitch them while using a spinning setup too

bent rods also makse a good blade id pick some up if i were u
