Last year it was very successful and should be this year too. The church will be serving a breakfast and light lunch.

Excellent response to the sale, with 13 tables now booked, a good chance to start your early Christmas shopping, some premium items there I hear. ;D
-
I am going to bring a switch rod, plus other assorted rods and reels. Will also bring along some spey lines, flies and lures to sell also.
-
I dont need a full table but have some items I would like to part with. If anyone wouldnt mind letting me put a few things on their table ( for a small % of course) shoot me a email at jantunen77@gmail.com. Thanks
Fin, I have 2 tables booked so I`m sure there would room for your stuff. No % wanted. See you there.
-
Sweet , thanks. Was that you they stuck right by the door last year? Coldest spot in the whole building. Try and make Gadsen get that one this year, On second thought all his floats might blow away
Yeah, that was me! He will probably put me beside the bathroom this time ... just glad it`s not Don Staniford assigning tables :D
-
emailed about a table and no response yet?

See you there.

Just boxed up a whole bunch of Abu Garcia levelwind reels, Shimano spinning reels a few fly reels and all have line on them ready to go. tubs full of blue fox spinners, tea spoons, rVrfshr spinners, spin n glos (some very hard to find ones), float fishing rods, lure casting rods, fly rods, plugs and much more.
Been wanting to rid myself of this hoarders bounty of fishing gear for a long time. Gotta make way for more tackle, lotsa new fancy rods n reels to be added to my collection soon.
-
FVSS directors have been busy this afternoon setting up tomorrow's used tackle sale. Be sure to drop by the sale at Carman United Church (7258 Vedder Road) in Chilliwack between 8:30am and 2:00pm.

I thought I could park it on your table Chris then you can fill it up with floats :o

It would have to be a big boat to hold all of Chris's floats ;D

I hear you on that silex ... I also found one, a Super that had to come home with me ;D Some incredible deals on some good quality terminal tackle and other things like amazing fish carvings, flylines, lures, and of course the usual great selection of hunted, experienced, and hand captured floats by you know who ::)
A great event and something I believe will only get bigger and better.
Firebird, hope that 2 hander outfit works for you!

Sounds like another successful event. I had to attend a different trade show. ::) any estimate on how many people came out?

A trade shows for cloths I bet. ;D Maple Leaf Drennans were going like hot cakes for 2 for $8. ;DWill give a more detail report with pictures later.
Just got back looking, in the dark and rain for a rod that a friend of Milo lost from the top of his car tonight. :(

Here you go, FVSS facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.381047328636021.86738.111769675563789&type=3
Was a good event with 12 tables sold. 2 people who said they would have a table did not show, disappointing they did not tell us they were not coming.
Don Campbell donated one of his hand made CP's that sell for around $300, I auctioned it off for $205, thanks Don for these generous gift to the FVSS and for John for buying it.
Most sellers were happy with their sales but the buyers I thought was less than last year. Most sellers said they would be back next year so we will most likely go for a 3rd one. We also sold 11 memberships and had a number of free prize draws for all that attended.

Hey chris u know of any one who had some level winds that they didnt sell that the would still want to both rods and reels

Fishing can be tough at times as it is, I'm afraid the maple leaf karma might make it tougher. If they were Canuck DNE's we might be talking ;D

This was my son and my second time renting two tables for the fishing tackle sale. Numbers were down from last year. Not sure what influenced the attendance. Enjoyed connecting with people and sharing fishing stories plus we sold a little bit of tackle. Still have a ton of gear if anyone is still looking. Thanks to Chris, Nick and FVSS team for putting this together once again. Thanks also to Carman United church for opening their doors to this event and especially providing "Eggs & Ham Mc Muffin for breakfast and gourmet hotdogs for lunch plus coffee, pop and water for good prices.
I would encourage the team to have this twice a year: one day in early May and the other the beginning of September. The May event to focus on tackle for spring flyfishing and summer river/ ocean fishing. September to capture the salmon runs into local rivers plus the Fall still water fishery. Possibly there could be some exhibits for "rod building, fly tying, bait curing, smoking fish & recipes, and practical salmon fishing information to connect youth." The Cultus Lake Pikeminnow fishing derby could also be promoted in the May event with those with boats and possibly more guides making themselves available for families that can't afford fishing tackle or who have not had fishing experiences.
I am just brainstorming the future possibilities for FVSS. One thing for sure is that more younger people are needed to join and become involved in a meaningful life purpose that enhances our salmon resources and builds up the next generation of fishers! Just some thoughts. Rod

I think part of the reason could be its all the way in chilliwack. I dont mind the drive, but some people woudnt want to drive an hour to look at fishing gear. I think there needs to be a place in the middle where the lower mainland and fraser valley travel the same distance. you'd probably see a bigger turnout. Maybe abbotsford they have a lot of churches lol

They drive that far to fish. ;D

True, but the fishing condition was less than ideal to drive 80kms just to look at some tackle...if the river was in better shape, i would have been there.

If you want more customers remember......location location location.

Of course everyone would like to sell more but the idea of the FVSS for these sale is to have some good fellowship, sell and buy some goodies. Also this is an out reach program the FVSS try to do a few times each year.
Besides I am able to get a very reasonable hall rental for the church that I attend here in Chilliwack.
Of course there always is an opportunity for any one else or group to put on a tackle sale at a location closer to Vancouver. :D Please post the date and location here when you are having one as some of our sellers may wish to attend.
-
Location was fine last year and had a great turn out so not sure why the numbers were down this year. I agree that maybe mid September might be a good time to get guys before they hit the fall fishing rather than right now with it nearing the end. I think the location is fine as this is for the Fraser Valley. I drove from Surrey both years and don't regret it.

Firebird, hope that 2 hander outfit works for you!
I hope to give it a test drive today after I pick up my door prize at Chilliwack Dart and Tackle :) Hopefully I can buy a tip or tips from them. Watched the spey guys up on the Thompson yesterday ... looking forward to joining them soon.
-
nothing wrong with the location. I drove from vancouver to check out the sale. Picked up a couple spinning set ups for tossing hardware and found my new rod for pinks next fall.
I will agree that maybe changing the sale to september or october may be advantageous for the sellers.
-
I think that the location is fine. We were unable to make the sale this year due to work.
Hopefully we will be able to attend next year. Personally, I like the November date better than earlier in the fall

I went out and fished the Vedder right after attending the sale. The fishing was excellent. So good in fact that I came back and fished the Vedder on sunday as well.
