Title: electric motor
Post by: mr.bean on August 26, 2012, 02:18:55 PM
i need  a electric motor for a 11 foot zodiak. cant decide  between a minn kota or a torqueedo, which is a german made motor .  does anybody has  any experience with this torqueedo motor?  its very expensive, almost 2000 bucks, but it is supposed to be the cats my friend.

Wow you could buy at least 10 minn kota for that price...

Minn Kota's have a pretty good reputation and for the price compared to your other suggestion I think I would stick with a minn kota.

Make sure you get one of the TRAXXIS versions of the Minn Kota

I use a Minn Kota motor for trolling and as a kicker in lakes and it has worked great. Had a Motorguide electric in the past and it went about 3 years before it developed some issues that pointed me in Minn Kota's direction.

Minn Kota is all you need man - I've got a 50lb thrust Endura and it really moves my 14.5ft G3 V14 boat!  They're really durable too and seem to last forever

I got a traxxis 46lb thrust  still brand new in box ( actually used one on buntzen for 2 hours ) and same detailed interstate battery for $360 , it is true traxxis is the king of minnkotas
