This has irked me for a while. Ever notice the lotto 6/49 commercial where there are a bunch of fly fisherman on the river. A few of the guys have have their reels mounted backwards or the fishing line spooled backwards. When they reel in, they are reeling in reverse.
-
Yup, first thing I noticed months ago.
-
They should have hired a guide or taking some fly fishing lessons with their lotto winnings ;D
-
yep, and they are fishing so close to each other. You'd think it was the Vedder or something.
-
I noticed the reel too but having said that, I have seen fishermen fish like that at the Vedder River too....

Maybe that's where they recruited the "fishermen"? ;D ;D
-
Thats the first thing I noticed as well. Have to chuckle every tiime I see it.
-
Maybe it's realistic in the manor that when you win a million dollars all the new things you try, you suck at, for all you ever knew before you won the lottery was work.
-
laugh out loud every time I see those guys, you know they are totally flossing some spawned out tomatos too
-
thats hilarious! i didn't think anyone noticed...that was the FIRST thing i noticed when i saw that commercial.
-
hahahaha so awsome that commercial has always bugged me, nice to see other people noticed the guy reeling in backwards
-
Never noticed the reeling in sdrawkcab ::) but sure do not care about the audio in that commercial.
But when it comes on the FWR website always (every time) comes to my mind!
Gotta admit with all the sports fishermen/ladies in Canada someone is going to win the BIG ONE.
In past / & future.
Remember alittle about a commercial fisherman I think in Steveston won some money & saying he wanted to put a new engine in his boat & other things LUCKY GUY.
Remember if your not too popular with neighbors & relatives ya will be if ya win $$$$$$. ;D
-
Very unrealistic commercial. The last thing i would do is go fishing with the guys i work with! Lol. I would never want to see them ever again so i wouldnt be reminded of the job! :-\
-
I saw this and my first thought was "This nice of a river, and those douches are rocking creels? BS!"

Sucks to be you.
Must be sad to feel about your job and your coworkers the way you do.
-
15 years on the same job , if I won I'd have about 10-15 guys on a fishing list(from work)!!!!
That would be a great way to celebrate,we were just exchanging Barkley Sound stories tonight
;D Awesome night at work!!!!
-
What gets to me about that commercial is that you don't have to be wealthy to go fly fishing with your buddies. That's a pastime the average guy can take part in without winning the 6/49.
Huge sailboats, sports cars, private jets, all those make sense in a lottery commercial. Fishing with your pals? I must already be rich.
-
All those fly fishers cramped together under Keith Wilson Bridge during the salmon season must be millionaires. ;D ;D ;D

heres the link in case anyone was curious. pretty funny, I hadnt seen that commercial before I googled it!
-
looks like they might have been helicopter fishing
-
Ya, I noticed first time too. :D You would think professional ad execs would do a little research.
-
The scenes where they are fishing remind me of the Seymour River.

Thanks for the link---
I think the reason behind all this , even he did everything backward, but he is lucky enough to catch a fish and win the lottery. ;D
-
You would really think they would pay attention to the content of their ads.... Especially considering how many people fish in BC.
-
Right on Denis.t , lol . yea I wouldn't want to see the guys I work with ugly mugs either!
-
That ad is annoying. Noticed the backward reeling first time I saw it. You'd think they'd get it right, but someone obviously didn't do their homework.

Lol. I work construction up in the oil patch staying in camps. The people are crude and rude..Believe me you would feel the same way.I work a job,get sick of the people, quit and move on to the next job. That was the first thing i thought of when i saw the commercial, fishing with my co-workers,no thanks.I would take my bros and close buds on a trip for sure, not my co-workers,if i win the lottery. :D
-
Typical Government, getting everything backwards. ??? Rodney should do their commercials. ;D ;D
-
There used to be a Vedder River legend named Tony Sevick who reeled that way. The guy caught a ton of fish but he never lost the nickname, 'rewind Tony'. Only us oldtimers remember him ... Chris, Buck, KP, anyone else??

I helped him pack out one of the last fish he caught, a chinook close to 50. ;D ;D

Tom Bird, head of the SFI or BC used to to fish like that. Saw him on a few episodes with Mark Pennlington. Passed away a couple years ago and will be missed.
Nothing wrong with it if thats what your use to.

Initially the backward reel bothered me and then I thought ok lets give the newbie lotto winner credit. Then I realized the director had him casting straight up stream while in a fast flowing river.Worse yet trying to convince us that he caught a fish this way.Preposterous! ;) Gotto go have to go get a ticket.LOL
