Title: Fishing the Vedder
Post by: coho killer on April 01, 2012, 09:27:15 PM
Hello, I was wondering if someone could tell me how deep you want to fish when fishing Steelhead in slower water. I know you want your bait about 1-2' off the bottom, but it seems different baits have different buoyancy. Say the run is 3' deep how much distance do you want between your float and your weight? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

if the run was 3 feet deep and i was fishing a pink work/jensen/roe i would go one to 2 feet float to weight. If i was using a blade then one foot float to weight on an 18" leader. If i was fishing a jig 18" leader and maybe 6" float to weight, i usually just fish jigs in deeper pools because they are rock magnets, but jigs in pools i usually fish em 2 or 3 feet off bottom.
